DIY : embroider a personalised message on her cashmere jumper NOTSHY

DIY: CUSTOMISE YOUR JUMPER
IN CASHMERY

On the occasion of Valentine's Day, an embroiderer will stitch (the heart of) your cashmere for free at the Neuilly shop on Tuesday 9th and Saturday 13th February. For those who can't participate, here is a little Do It Yourself course to personalise your cashmere with a little love note, a heart, initials...

Technique: chain stitch I Time: 20 minutes for a heart I Ease: easy

GATHER THE NECESSARY MATERIAL:

To make this cashmere DIY, you will need :

- A piece of NOTSHY cashmere (jumper, hat, scarf, glove...)

- The embroidery thread

- An Embroidery Drum

- A felt-tip pen that rubs off with friction

- A pair of scissors

- A needle

TRACE THE PATTERN OF
YOUR CHOICE

Choose the motif of your choice, personalised according to the person to whom you wish to offer the cashmere piece: your initials for your darling? A heart for your mother? A word of love for your best friend?

Using the friction felt pen, draw the design you wish to embroider on the stitches of your cashmere.

Here, Marion, our embroiderer during the boutqiue workshop, has chosen a heart!

POSITION THE DRUM

Place the drum around the drawn pattern.

Make sure that the fabric is not loose and that the pattern is not distorted.

Marion's tip: Wrap the inner ring with a ribbon to prevent the cashmere piece from slipping!

EMBROIDER IN
STITCH CHAIN

First pass the thread through the needle.

A . Stitch the needle into the cashmere piece on the line of the design from underneath.

B. Stitch the needle back where it came out and gently pull the thread, leaving slack to make a loop.

C. Stitch the needle into the piece of fabric on the line of the design from underneath, 2 mm from the previous stitch.

D. Slide the needle into the first loop and stitch in the same place where the needle came out.

Repeat steps C and D to the end of the drawn line.

END THE
BRODERIE

For patterns with angles, pass the thread through a stitch under the drum and then make a simple knot with the thread on the non-visible side of the piece and cut it. Repeat step A.

To finish the embroidery, tie a single knot with the thread on the non-visible side of the piece and cut.

ENJOY YOUR WORK!

All you have to do is gently remove the drum to release the embroidery. If your cashmere keeps traces of folds, don't panic! Steam your cashmere piece!
